About the Position
Kopanang Gold Mine is looking for a qualified Safety Officer (C45) to join the Safety Department. The ideal candidate holds a Grade 12/N3 Certificate and a Chamber of Mines Safety Officer's Certification (COMSOC 1&2), with a minimum of 2 years' underground mining or engineering experience. A Blasting Certificate, Strata Control Certificate, or Risk Assessment qualification will be an added advantage. A valid Certificate of Fitness is required.

Qualifications and Experience

Must be in possession of Grade 12/N3 Certificate.

Must have Chamber of Mines Safety Officer’s Certification (COMSOC 1&2).

Blasting Certificate or Trade Certificate will be advantageous.

Minimum of 2 years underground Mining/Engineering experience.

Have good communication skills.

Must have excellent written & verbal skills in English.

Computer Literacy: Micro Soft Office package.

Must have valid Certificate of Fitness or be able to obtain one at our medical facility.

Strata Control Certificate or qualification in Risk Assessment will be advantageous.

Application Process
Duties and Responsibilities

Will report to the Chief Safety Officer.

Conduct working place inspections at the interval prescribed by the Chief Safety Officer.

Conduct accident investigation and furnish the report in writing as prescribed in the regulation.

Will attend the Line Management meetings and advise Line Management accordingly with the issues pertaining to Safety.

Will do analysis of the section in relation with safety performance and submit the report to Line Management.
Salary
Salary will be in accordance with the Kopanang Gold Mine Limited Schedule of Salaries.
